 Carmel International Film Festival (CIFFest) announces several key film selections, major celebrity guests, and a fundraiser in partnership with actor/filmmakers Mark Duplass and Katie Aselton’s THE SOUL POINTS FUND (thesoulpointsfund.org) to raise relief funds for those still affected by the recent LA Wildfires. The fundraiser will also receive a portion of the sale of a rare Marey/Demeny movie camera, from circa 1895, which will be auctioned off in conjunction with this year’s film festival, October 2-5, 2025.

The Tempest is a play by William Shakespeare that tells the story of Prospero, the overthrown duke of Milan, who maroons his betrayers on a magical island. Prospero uses magic to conjure a storm and torment the survivors of a shipwreck, including the King of Naples and Prospero’s treacherous brother, Antonio2. There, he creates spells and enchantments that toy with the evildoers until they promise to return him to his throne.
Location: Outdoor Forest Theater
 
Run Time: 2 Hours & 10 minutes (with one 15-minute intermission)
 
Age Recommendation: Age 13 and older.
